Little Rock, AR (HairstylesForAll.com) September 10, 2010 – The mustache of Terry Jones, founder of International Burn A Koran Day, has been condemned by Hairstyles For All.

“Pastor Jones’ mustache crosses the line of acceptability by heading South when it should remain East/West,” says HFA editor-in-chief Jen Smith. “We are normally very inclusive when featuring new hairstyles, but this mustache is so horrid it must be unequivocally condemned by the fashion community at large. We call on every peace-loving fashion blogger, editor, and pundit of publications large and small to condemn this most heinous of mustaches. What we are most afraid of are copycat offenses. Having created such a large stir with the Koran burning controversy, Pastor Jones will no doubt inspire other fashion-challenged men to try and bring back the handlebar mustache. The problem is that the handlebar mustache should never see the light of day again. Pastor Jones should immediately shave his mustache, or at least shave off the North/South components.”

Pastor Jones’ mustache is considered a handlebar mustache, a style of mustache which was very popular in the United States during the Wild West days of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. The handlebar mustache was also popular in Europe from the 1700′s through World War I. The first recorded appearance of a mustache dates back to 300 B.C., although it is difficult to say when the first handlebar mustache appeared. Mustaches of all kinds became incredibly popular in the military during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The higher a man’s rank, the more elaborate of a mustache he was permitted to wear. It is understandable, then, that handlebar mustaches were only acceptable for high ranking officers. In both Europe and the United States, the end of World War I brought about the end of the handlebar mustache. Most every man since has realized how out of fashion these mustaches are. There are some unfortunates, however. They are not at fault, they seem to have been born that way.

Jen Smith has a different opinion. She continues, “Pastor Jones’ refusal to let this style go speaks only to his stubbornness. The mustache community is one of the world’s greatest communities, and is a community of peace. The face of Pastor Jones does not reflect the goals and aspirations of the true mustache community. He has perverted this community of peace in favor of his own ideology of bad taste. We should not let this man’s mustache stain the mustache community at large, nor allow him to discourage peace-loving men everywhere from wearing a proper mustache. Mustaches like Pastor Jones’, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world of fashion. In this global war on fashion, you’re either with Pastor Jones or against him. Those who harbor any mustaches similar to Pastor Jones’ will be considered terrorists, and must have their mustaches shaven immediately.”

Jen Smith is the editor-in-chief at http://www.HairstylesForAll.com , a fashion forward publication featuring the latest celebrity hairstlyes as well as how to tips and advice. She abhors any and all hairstyles which are done in poor taste or give the fashion community at large a bad name.
