During a well spent weekend, Eva Parker visited the “Rally for Kids with Cancer” event. She wore a low, knotted bun that really showed off the streaks of hair color that represents her highlighted red/brown mane. Gravity will win the battle of pulling down these locks on fine, weak hair types where the hair shaft is thin and does not have the needed medulla (hair’s center core of strength) to hold its shape, however strong hair shafts (coarse) can support these curves on long hair ends. Those with fine, weak hair will not keep coils at this length for any length of time, especially in high humidity. Eva is a natural brunette with medium coarse hair that withstands not only the color she has taken on, it can definitely bounce on through the evening. Note her stripes of highlights that are prevalent in her casual look.

Arriving at an awards show, Nicole Kidman gives a classic example of fine hair failing to pass the long, large curl test.

Even the rich and famous know not to take too many chances with any fine hair they may possess. Unfortunately, those unlucky enough to have this hair type have very little in the way of options for hairstyle versatility. Wearing it short and sassy is a good choice. With the many different types of short hairstyles, just about any face shape can find a good cropped style. Drew Barrymore appears to have fine hair and here her style is in a medium bob look. She keeps her hair as thick as possible by wearing it heavy and all one length; also by plumping each hair shaft with “filler”, aka hair color. It’s important to keep a style like this healthy and void of frizz or split ends by keeping the ends cut on a regular basis. The bob stays in style no matter what the season or year.

When wearing fine hair at a longer length, one must keep protein infused in it with a healthy balance of moisturizing conditioner to keep the keratin from drying it out further. Maintain haircuts regularly and avoid any and all abuse lest breakage will most definitely ensue. Healthy hair has shine and resiliency; it will maintain curl and body. Jessica Simpson has a lot of all these things.

The rich and famous do spend a lot on their hair, yet one thing they do that you can do as well is spend some time on your hair. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, just provide a little obtained knowledge about your hair type and apply some old fashioned TLC. Many of us like the idea of playing around with our hair color. If your hair is healthy enough, then trying something new, breaking free from dull hair or highlighting boring shades is always fun and it’s an instant pick-me-up. No waiting for a new you, you can have a bold, sassy style in an afternoon! Brunettes put in contrast, blondes, go for highlighting shades of golds. Medium brown may go for some low lights while others may be brazen enough for exotic shades like cranberry or purple streaked or tipped on their heads. You may even go for some other unnatural shades of copper or red yet what you won’t duplicate is this. Many try, yet there is nothing more commonly, and beautifully rare in the world of hair color than a natural redhead. And those of you who possess genuine auburn, bronze or any other shade of red, should never apply hair color to your mane. You must realize you would have to grow your hair completely out and if it’s long, that’s a great span of time to get it all back. While no one else can copy the shades you have, please understand that once you change your color, it can not be duplicated on you either. Know there are gals, and guys, out there who would give their eye teeth to have the shades and hues your natural redhead has.

If you have a formal event approaching, you may already be wondering what chic style you will wear to those evenings out. While long styles have endless possibilities, short hair can also look elegant with a faux updo look such as this classy look on Hayden Panettiere.

2011 will see a lot of straight, down the middle parts. MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - OCTOBER 28: Lara Bingle attends the Louis Vuitton Crown Melbourne store opening on October 28, 2010 in Melbourne, Australia. (Photo by Scott Barbour/Getty Images)
Yes that 70’s look will return with some twists on long braiding and new flair to old looks. Whether your hair is long, medium or in a long bob, this bold parting will definitely keep you in style. The center part will look good on most, yet will definitely ‘point out’ those with closed –set eyes and noses of substantial size so keep in mind to not accent any unbecoming features. Long bangs will be part of some styles so one can always opt out with that. Yet, then again this type of bangs is not for everyone. While they are great for breaking up the length of a long face, they are terrible for small face types. And if you’re a guy, spiking your crop will become popular once again. I’m sure Ryan Seacrest will be happy to hear this since, despite some constantly changing trend demands, he has kept this signature look.

Some attributes will remain the same for the new year, such as flatironed, straight and shiny looks such as Kellie Pickler’s look here. Note the chunk of dark blonde in contrast to her platinum color. Eye catching details will also continue to be a fun choice in hair design. Long waves will stay popular and continue to fill out narrow chinlines (heart face shapes) like on Kate Voegele.

So bottom line is, keep your face, head and neck features in mind when you select a cut or style and decide if your hair “type” (fine, medium or coarse) will wear it well. Always make sure you are suited to the style and that you are not trying to suit the style to you.
